Bird of the Day

For those of you who follow me on twitter, you’ll have noticed a sudden increase in the amount I post! In a bid to use the platform more, I’ve been tweeting photos of a different bird every day with the hashtag #birdotd. I’m halfway through the month I challenged myself to, and I’ve already noticed a few things.

  • There are many New Zealand Species that I do not have photos of! Especially our rare and reclusive birds. I hope to remedy this by taking a trip to Tiritiri Matangi at some point in the future, and then perhaps down to the South Island for Kea, Yellow-Eyed Penguins, and many others.
  • Of the birds I do have photos of, I have a lot of photos of them. It makes it quite difficult to choose which one to post for that species, but is a good exercise in selecting my absolute best shot.
  • People really like Gannets.
  • I will run out of New Zealand birds very soon, so I’m going to hop the ditch and post some Australian birds, and then some South African birds to finish the month.

For those who haven’t been following me on twitter, I thought I’d post a slideshow here of the birds so far.
