Butterflies and Bees

My way of curing a photographic slump is to just do everything that comes to mind. On Saturday this saw me standing in the rain photographing bees in a Wedding Day Rose in our garden, and then heading up to Whirinaki Forest Park to look for Shining Cuckoos while Dad went fly-fishing. Despite finding and photographing a Shining Cuckoo, my favourite photographs from the day were a honey-bee from the morning in the garden, and a Common Copper butterfly from Whirinaki. The bright colours and simplicity drew me to process these photos – something I’ve been struggling with lately. After a few weeks of feeling exceedingly ‘blah’ about photography, it’s good to get back in the zone in preparation for my trip!
