Shorebirds

What can I say? I’ve missed the ocean. I’m taking every chance to be on or as near the sea as possible now. With limited opportunities to get out on the water, I’ve been enjoying hanging out with shorebirds on various beaches. Lying low in the sand to get better perspectives, getting caught by wavelets sneaking up around my ankles. I love this image because it brings back the hushing sound of the waves, the salt tang of piles of seaweed washed up along the tideline. It was pushing dusk when I watched these two Variable oystercatchers trot along the dunes near Ocean Beach, and I’m amazed at how well the image held up with an exposure adjustment and some noise reduction. Cameras can be pretty amazing sometimes.
